COMMISSIONS

When you wish to commission me to paint a portrait, the following general outline will be followed. This is loosely based upon the guidelines given by PAA (Portrait Artists Australia), of which I am a member.

Prices range depending on the size of the canvas, and the type of portrait required, and will be negotiated before any work begins. An agreement in writing will be entered into.

After the size, and type of portrait and cost has been negotiated, a deposit of 25% will be required. This can be paid at the first sitting. During this 1^st sitting, which is between one and a half to two hours, I will take many photographs after which I like to make one or two charcoal drawings, in order to “find my way around the personality of the sitter.” I like to talk to my model during this sitting in order to get to know the subject and learn about the person if not already known to me. Depending upon the progress of the painting, I may need to have another sitting at a later stage, in order to refine the portrait.

The sitting process is quite relaxing and fun, with the artist, (ME!) doing all the running around.

On completion of the portrait the balance of the cost is to be paid.

I accept commissions also for Portraits of Animals, Still Life, and figurative paintings, as well as Contemporary works for Commercial and Private retainers.
